Earthquake in China kills 107

China was shaken by a massive earthquake of 7.8 magnitude on Monday 12 May 2008 at 2:28 p.m (11:58 am Indian time).
The US Geological Survey has released the details of the quake on its website. According to the initial data received the magnitude of quake was 7.8 on the Richter scale.
The epicenter of the earthquake was at 31.104°N, 103.270°E. in Eastern Sichuan region of China about 1545 kms to the South West of Beijing, the country's capital at a depth of 10 kms.
The tremors of the earthquake were felt across several countries in the South Asia - including Thailand, Taiwan - and is reported to have lasted for two to three minutes.
Chinese President Hu Jintao has ordered an all-out effort to help the victims of the earthquake.
